how to plan My Wedding on an extremely low budget?

im getting married on 18th june next year and i am saving up but the only problem is we r on a very low budget and will only be able to save about £2500 at most. i have book the service which will cost £160 and the notice will cost£60 and our reception venuse will cost £100 but i have no idea what else i need to save for and i have no idea how to do it all on my bidget, another good thing is my bridesmaids r buying thier own dresses and my friend is a dj and hes doin it for free. but im really getting stressed over it all

Here are some money saving ideas:

1 – Make your own invitations, name cards for the table etc. Go to one of the card making stores that do a box of paper and card for £5.99 and buy enough card to cover the number of invites needed. Avoid pre-made embellishments as they soon add up to costing a lot. I suggest opting for a simply, classy idea and work with that. I made 100 invites for my friend’s wedding and the invites, table name cards and menus cost £30 to make. I simply halved nice A4 card and stuck three little rectangles in a line about 1/3 from the top and put a coloured heart into the rectangles in the other colour she used. Simple but she loved them.

2 – Don’t bother with favours. They’re a nice touch but they cost a lot and people don’t often even take them home! If you have a little money left over, maybe make a small charitable donation and leave your guests a little note to say ‘In lieu of favours we donated some money to (name of charity)’. If you DO want favours, maybe get some bowls and fill with some sweets and leave by the cake or something.

3 – Instead of hiring a photographer, put a note in the invite like ‘As we won’t have an official photographer, we would appreciate copies of any photos taken by pur guests’. If people know you don’t have a photographer, it may mean they take some more pics and even bring cameras in the first place! You can also get cheap disposable cameras from boots etc (try find BOGOF offers on these online).

4 – Make your own cake! Wedding cakes can cost loads and at the end of the day, they get eaten and most people won’t recall them in a years time. Are you a good cook? is your Mum or Gran? I bet you can find someone who can help make and ice three cakes. Hire the pans from a cake store and decorate yourself – a lot of cake stores sell ready made edible flowers for cakes for a few quid. They look nice too.

5 – Buy your dress from Monsoon or even try the bridesmaids dresses by Alred Angelo as some are more bridal, they sell them in white and ivory and they’re cheap!!!

6 – Do your own hair and makeup or ask a friend to for you.

7 – Buy flowers in and make up your own arrangements.

8. Research – don’t use the first supplier you find. Find a few (online generally saves money) and play them off each other to get the best deal. Given the current climate, companies want business the same we want to save some cash – and it’s worth asking for a discount if ordering in larger numbers. If you’re from the UK google ‘myvouchers’ – it’s a site which gives money off codes and coupons.

There are lots of things you can do – but DO NOT STRESS! It’s a joyous time, so have fun!
